Who we are

The Joint Implementation Action Group (JIAG) is a consortium of JI practitioners developing numerous projects within the EU, Ukraine, Russia and other Annex 1 countries under the UNFCCC. Current JIAG members are Global Carbon, Climate Focus, Carbon Trade and Finance, Vertis, FutureCamp and GreenStream. These companies are key buyers and project developers on the JI market. Most of them are active beyond JI and participate in GHG emission reductions projects around the world.

The JIAG is a forum of like-minded companies that have agreed to join forces. The JIAG received wide positive feedback from Joint Implementation Supervisory Committee (JISC) members, JI project developers, carbon investors and traders, policy-makers, experts, and other JI supporters. This shows that support for the JIAG stretches well beyond its members.

The JIAG Members welcome support from new members. Applicant members are invited to send their contact details to the JIAG secretariat.

What we do

The group provides a voice for the interests of JI within and outside of the UNFCCC context. We promote JI in its current form giving feedback to the JISC or the Conference of Parties/Meeting of the Parties (COP/MOP) on functioning of JI. We also contribute to the future of the mechanism by actively participating in the discussion of the role of JI in a post-2012 regime. Our activities include organising side events at Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and COP/MOP meetings as well as publishing articles and position papers.

Our activities include:
- Developing policy proposals which would ensure a continuous and healthy role for JI in 2013 and beyond,
- Participating at international meetings in climate change and emissions trading policy actively contributing to debates on the post-2012 regime,
- Organizing and hosting JI related events to facilitate interaction between representatives of the private sector, research groups and policy makers,
- Presenting the JIAG policy recommendations at conferences,
- Actively supporting policy-makers and international negotiators with briefing papers and proposals.

Our activities are coordinated to ensure that JIAG's message is coherent and persuasive across all events and all media.
